DOMINO have worked on a huge variety of schemes, ranging from major PFIs to small ward upgrades. Opened by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in September 2011, the new Centre comprises 31 inpatient beds, daycare and outpatient facilities for children and young people from the age of 1 to 24.
The bright and cheerful spaces provide a positive environment for the treatment of these young patients.
The new £27M 42-bed specialist centre for children with mental Health difficulties and learning disabilities opened in Autumn 2011. It comprises 4 wards and a Shared Services Unit and is the first integrated service of its kind in the country.
Domino’s responsibilities included;
* Costing the scheme for approval with an equipment value of approx £600,000.

* Discussing specifications with Architect & Estates Dept
* Monitoring Budget at all stages
* Attendance at Equipment User Group
* Tendering / Negotiating prices with suppliers
* Placing all orders
* Receipting all deliveries
* Placing in Rooms / removing packaging/ laying our rooms in line with plans

“The new MDU has been designed with our patients’ individual needs firmly in mind. The new area is much larger, giving a greater sense of ease and comfort to help allay some of the common anxieties. There is a dedicated fast-track area for those receiving quick infusions of drugs, be it chemotherapy or bone strengtheners, which will help to keep time in hospital to a minimum for patients.” Sanjay Popat, Consultant Medical Oncologist leading the project.
The original CCU at the Royal Marsden Hosptial was badly damaged by the fire at the Chelsea site in 2008. A new £10million, state of the art unit opened in August 2010, with a focus on space and natural light and providing twelve ICU and seven HDU beds. It is the only facility in the UK providing intensive care exclusively for cancer patients.
The National Institute for Biological Standards and Control (NIBSC) is a centre of the HPA, and its mission is to assure the quality of biological medicines. At the heart of the work is the preparation, storage and worldwide distribution of WHO International Standards and Reference Materials to provide benchmarks for product quality.
In addition NIBSC provides testing services as the UK’s Official Medicines Control Laboratory to ensure compliance with product specifications. These activities and advice provided by NIBSC are underpinned by leading edge scientific research covering a wide range of scientific disciplines.
The £67m The Queen’s Centre for Oncology and Haematology opened in March 2009. A UK centre of excellence for the treatment of patients with cancer and blood disorders, provides treatment and palliative care in five ward areas containing 116
in-patient beds, out-patient care, a drop in centre providing psychological and emotional support, a chemotherapy day hospital, six radiotherapy treatment rooms, as well as pathology, pharmacy and medical physics facilities.
The Guildford Clinic began life as an innovative partnership between Independent Healthcare Specialists (IHS) - a large group of leading local consultants, and Nuffield Health, to design a patient-centred Day Hospital for Guildford patients that raised the bar in healthcare provision. It is now wholly owned by Nuffield Health.
The Clinic is the only one of its kind in this part of the country where you can access a private GP for healthcare and referrals, consultant Outpatient clinics,
on-site advanced diagnostic and imaging facilities, as well as three theatres for day surgery procedures, all under one roof. So you can, if necessary, obtain a diagnosis and begin treatment on the same day.
From weight loss, cosmetic or plastic surgery, and varicose veins, through to problems with prostate, gynaecological conditions, skin and joint conditions, oral and dental issues, athletic or chronic injuries, allergies or child health concerns, to treating cancer or having major gastric or abdominal surgery, the Guildford Clinic has over 100 specialists offering over 30 different medical services for you.
Opening to patients in February 2007, it is the largest hospital anywhere in the world, solely dedicated to the prevention, treatment and cure of childrens eye disease. Domino Equipping Solutions worked with the Project Team to ensure that the building was equipped with the latest furniture and equipment for clinical diagnosis and treatment, research and family overnight accommodation.
Funded by the Exchequer and costing £38 Million, Edgware Community Hospital, a flagship community Hospital, for the 21st Century, was equipped by Domino Equipping Solutions in 2005. It included a Day Surgery unit, birth centre, CAMHS, Outpatients, Wards, Day Hospital, Education Centre, Pharmacy, Therapies, Restaurant and Walk in Centre
The Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (formerly the Swindon and Marlborough NHS Trust) consists of the following hospitals and services:
The Great Western Hospital - a modern district general hospital providing emergency care, surgery, diagnostics, out patient and day case services.
The Brunel Treatment Centre - a 128 bed unit designed to provide high quality elective (planned) care and diagnostics.
The Shalbourne Suite - a 20 bed private patient unit which is set within the Brunel Treatment Centre.
Other Units - several other hospitals, clinics and services provided by the trust, such as Savernake Hospital and Fairford Hospital.
£80M capital development completed in 2003 was one of the UK’s first PFI schemes. One of Europe’s most modern hospitals, The James Cook University site in Middlesbrough is the largest of its type with a wide range of district general hospital services and specialist (tertiary) services including neurosurgery, renal medicine, spinal injuries, major trauma, vascular surgery and cancer services.
